Oryx is a cast core bullet. It looks like a standard armor-piercing bullet, but the core and jacket are made of cast lead for maximum strength. This prevents the bullet from cracking or breaking on impact, even when hitting thick bone.
This cast core has high expansion and mass retention. To ensure optimal expansion at any impact velocity, Oryx has a thin front jacket with internal separation zones. The cast core and thicker rear jacket provide very high mass retention (often over 90%) and excellent penetration. By expanding rapidly to a large diameter without cracking, Oryx creates a wide penetration channel and reduces tissue damage.
The high mass retention also provides good penetration and high energy release. Oryx is known worldwide for its excellent properties. Its unique properties include rapid lethal dispersion of the bullet and high mass retention, as well as longer bullet penetration.
